FAQs

Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed to book an appointment. If a formal plan or extra support might help, I can provide a letter of recommendation for your GP.

What is your cancellation policy?
Policy: Please give at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Appointments are dedicated time just for you, and last-minute cancellations or missed sessions may mean someone else misses out. Late cancellations or missed appointments are billed at the full fee.

Are Medicare rebates available?
Yes, for individuals with an appropriate care plan from their GP (EDTP or GP CCMP). For adolescents, ensure Medicare billing is linked to the parent/guardian so rebates are processed correctly. If linked to the child, rebates may go directly to them.

How long is each session?
Standard sessions are 50 minutes, with 10-minutes for notes, sending resources and/or care team communication. Shorter 40-minute reviews may be offered at the clinician’s depending on your individual circumstances and stage of treatment.

What happens in our first session?
We focus on understanding your eating patterns, goals, medical and mental health background, and co-developing a plan for care. For further information, refer to 'How I Work'

How often will I need appointments?
This depends on your circumstances and stage of treatment. Weekly to fortnightly sessions are common at the start of eating disorder treatment. As you progress, session frequency is usually reduced to suit your needs and comfort.

Can parents or caregivers be involved?

Yes, especially for adolescents. This may include joint sessions, progress updates, or guidance on supporting recovery.

What should I bring?
It can help to bring recent food/gut symptom diaries, medical information, or reports/referrals from other clinicians.

Are sessions confidential?
Yes, with exceptions only as required by law, such as risk of harm to self or others. In these circumstances, I will make advise you ahead of time of my intention to share my concerns with your support/relevant treatment team.

Do you work with other medical professionals?
Yes, collaboration with GPs, psychologists, or other specialists is part of care when appropriate. Reports or summaries can be provided with consent. I can also recommend psychologists experienced in eating disorders, or you can search the ANZAED directory here.

What about reports, team care, or advocacy?
Work done outside sessions, such as reports, letters, care plans, or advocacy, is billed at $195 pro rata. This excludes documents required by Medicare or other legal obligations.
